Prakash Jha moves to Supreme Court for ‘Aarakshan’

The Indian Supreme Court will today (August 12) hear a petition by filmmaker Prakash Jha seeking the lifting of the ban on his film ‘Aarakshan’ in Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh.
An apex court bench headed by Justice Altamas Kabir said the matter will come up for hearing at 2pm.

The court passed the order after senior counsel Harish Salve and Mukul Rohtagi mentioned the matter before the court, seeking directions for the lifting of the ban imposed by the three stategovernments on the grounds of public order.
‘Aarakshan’, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone, deals with the sensitive issue of caste-based reservations in the Indian education system.(IANS)
